SPONSORSHIP FOR THE POOR STUDENTS OF BANGLADESH

Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries of the world. About 40 % families of the rural areas are living below poverty level. Due to their hardship they can't send their children to schools. The poor people who send their children to schools can't continue their education due to extreme poverty. As a result, drop-out rate is substantial. Primary education in Bangladesh is free. But the facilities hardly reach these vulnerable families due to overcrowding and poor management of the fund. On the other hand, the parents are also reluctant to spare their children to go to schools, instead they are used as child labour to earn some extra money for the families. As a result, these children of the poor families in Bangladesh are just running out of hope and with no future.

Our primary goal is to approach willing and able members of the civil societies of the world and generous institutions to sponsor at least one child to be selected by each of them from the poor families of Bangladesh and finance their education through contribution of 25 cents per day per child and rescue these poor children from malnutrition, child labour and dropping out from schools and make them self-reliant, a resource rather than a liability to the society and able to contribute to their communities in turn in future.

Foreign donors are requested to send their donations annually or half-yearly through checks to the 'Save The Humanity, Inc.' 204 West 55th St, Ste # 508 A, New York, NY 10019 that would subsequently transfer the donations to Save the Humanity, 164 Adarsha Palli, North Ibrahimpur, Dhaka 1206 for distribution through checks to the guardians of the children. The whole process will be done in a transparent manner with regular feedback to the donors. The addresses of the donors, progress reports of the students and financial accounts will be published regularly on the web site at http://www.embrasurefilms.com/humanity/child_sponsorship.htm for the appraisal of the donors. Local donors may send donations to Save the Humanity, Dhaka directly.

List of the helpless students is available in the web site. Each donor is requested to kindly make it convenient to select at least one child from the list available in the web site or outside the list, if known to him.

Donors may also make direct communication with the guardians of the students and the headmasters of the schools where they study in order to know the progress of studies of the students and utilization of stipends. Their address are available in the web site. In case of promotion and change of school, the students and the heads of the education institutions will have to inform the Executive Director, Save the Humanity, Dhaka for necessary entry in the web site.
